Lesson #2: Earn Trust

Trust is the foundation of leadership. Simply put: It is the most important thing. Period. It is the glue that holds an organization together. Leaders cannot repeatedly break trust with people and continue to influence them. It just will not happen.
npweProverbs 29:2 (NKJV) says, “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice. But when a wicked man rules, the people mourn.” In times of poor leadership, I have found this to be true. However, the cold, hard fact is, people don’t always do the right thing. Those who are in positions of power are not always honest, caring, or have a high level of morality. It was this realization years ago that inspired me to learn about leadership. I wanted to provide help to those who weren’t being treated appropriately. I was inspired to be a leader who led with integrity, compassion, trust, and honesty.
